The Air conditioner, because it pours cold air into your house were as a fan circulates the hot air already in your house.

AC, a fan just circulates the hot air around the house. But fans are cheaper. Thats the only good in that.

If you want to cool the house, an air conditioner. If you want to save the environment, a fan.

I don't know which is better if you want one or the other but I turn on the AC and since my blower is on the floor upstairs I put a fan on the floor pointed toward the celling to push the air up to cool it off faster since heat rises not cool air.. (Or turn on the celling fan downstairs pulling the air up with the A/C on)

An air conditioner. I live in Florida and all that a fan does is move 90 deg. air around.

well, obviously the air conditioner would make it much cooler and faster... a fan will only blow hot air. BUT a fan would make for a cheaper electric bill. So, it depends on your priorities. comfort or wealth.

Air conditioner. A fan just doesn't cut it. . .it just blows around hot air.

If your not home and wish to save some open windows and turn on a fan for circulation. However if the house heats up to much without the a/c on then you may defeat the purpose.

I love AC, but only when I'm not in my house.

I use a fan in my house because between kids & dogs, the doors are constantly opened. It would just be a watse of money.

Not to mention it's cheaper to just not use any heavy duty electric (heat giving off) machinery & use a fan.

For most people, it comes down to a matter of economics. It cost too much to leave the air on constantly. Energy prices have shyrocketed throughout the U.S. in recent years.
