If you are doing decorative etching, try a kit made for this. Can be found at Hobby stores. Chemicals rather than blasting. If you really want to use sand, get an airbrush with the etching kit. It is very messy though. You need to stencil off the area you want to etch and then devise a way to catch the sand that falls.

Here is a simple answer to a simple question. You Do Not.
Wear your best protective gear from head to toe, and make sure your life and property insurance is paid. The company or the individual (you) should be fully insured as well.
Clean Glass with the glass and you in mind. Determine the problem and solve it with the least exposure to yourself first.
Quick and easy (Sand-Blast) may be quick, however, is it needed? Good Luck.

Frosted glass is glass which has been rendered opaque through a process which roughens or obscures the clear surface of the class. Sandblasting is a general term used to describe the act of propelling very fine bits of material at high-velocity to clean or etch a surface. Sand is the most commonly used material, but any small, relatively uniform particles will work. Sandblasting can use anything from synthetic beads to bits of coconut shell.

first you'll need a sand blaster and a blasting box and some resist
apply the resist to the glass then with an exacto knife cut away the parts you want to blast . . insert into the blasting box and start blasting . go light and then go over it again . . .if you go to heavy you can blast the resist off of the glass

Sandblasting for decorative purposes? Not sure if this would suit your needs but for a small project I once did an etched look on my sidelights of our front door. Taking a stencil, paint with white gloss enamel, brush almost dry. When dry, repeat. It has the look of etched but is only paint and can be removed...
