I cannot for the life of me, even begin to understand animosity towards the gay community. To me, it looks as if these people simply hold fear for the unfamiliar. I have always believed that there is no such thing as gay, bi, straight; and who you're with or interested in is based on the personality rather than physically aspects... "Fall in love with the person, not the anatomy." There is sexual preference of course, I agree with that. I myself would be considered straight. Isn't "anti-gay" a bit harsh? Who are we to judge others based on who they love? We live in a sad world these days.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Even though I am straight, I can honesty say that I have never been threatened or bothered by gay people. They have never pushed their beliefs on me. They just want to be free to love their mates. I don't know why people don't leave them alone. I have many friends in the gay community. We respect each other, and that's what friends do.

It's not fear of the unfamiliar, all the intelligence is just being inbred out of our species.

Yes, "anti-gay" is harsh, unnecessary, and it will come back to bite the people who participate, each and every time.

You go girl. I agree with you so much. There isn't much we can do about those that don't like us. I always say that living well is the best revenge. While a lot of them are shut in by their beliefs, I am out there enjoying life.

People are taught to hate them. If they weren't taught to hate them, and were just told that some people are "that way" the prejudice would probably disappear. These "anti-gay" people are clueless as to some of the contributions they made to their lives and society and culture.

...... "We live in a sad world these days."

Hmmmm, ...........

These days are better than they have ever been. About 50 years ago, the American Psychiatric Association was saying that all of us gay people were mentally ill and in need of curative therapy -- maybe even shock therapy. And even that assessment might be though of as an IMPROVEMENT compared to what it must have been like to be gay before that.

Gay people have got far more straight allies "these days" than ever before. So I guess the question you are wondering is why isn't everybody an ally of gay people .... ? You'd better get used to the possibility that you may never be able to purge this entire society of every last person who still believes that homosexuality is immoral.

but haven't we always lived in a sad world...people have always used differences to create dichotomies? I don't understand this seemingly human trait...but it does seem constant in human history...It's too bad as a race that we can't just grow up.

I really don't get it either. I'm an adult and everything I do is consensual, I don't get why people get their nickers in a bunch over it.

Maybe it's because I'm Canadian I dunno.
