well firstly you convert 2.8 into a improper fraction. which is 14/5 .

and since a fifth is 1/5 we just simply divide 14/5 with 1/5 which gives you 14.

Let's change 2.8 to a fraction.
2.8 = 2 + 8/10 = 2 + 4/5 = 10/5 + 4/5 = 14/5.
14/5 divided by 1/5 = 14.
The answer is 14.

5. There are always five fifths in any quantity. How many 5th's in 100? 5 How many in 5, 5. How many in ten? 5. The size of a fifth portion will vary in accordance with the amount you are taking a fifth "of," such that a fifth of 100 is 20, of 5 is 1, of 10 is 2, etc. But in all cases, there are always 5 fifths, just as there are always 2 halves and always 3 thirds.

OK?

choose either to work in decimal or fraction

if in decimals...then 1/5 is the same as 0.2 (because 1/5 = 2/10)
hence, 2.8 divided by 0.2 is equal to 14

if in fractions...then 2.8 is equal to 28/10 which is 14/5 in simplest terms
hence, 14/5 divided by 1/5 will give you 14...

have fun..
