I took my pc on a vacation with me to my hometown and was not connected to the internet for about a month. When I came back, a message pops up that it's not connected (although it is and i just click Try Again). Worse is, my windows media player has it on default and won't download media cuz again, it's not hooked up to the internet.

Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab

You will find different settings in there for how your computer attempts to find the Internet. Since you did not state how you are accessing the Internet (Dial up, high speed, etc), I can not tell you the specific settings. But if there are any connections listed that you do NOT use, remove them and that may resolve te issue. You can also click the Lan Setting button in the bottom right and check the settings there.

Open an Internet page, then at the top click on File and go to the bottom and click work offline. It should change over. If there is is a check mark by it it's offline but if there isn't the Internet isn't offline anymore. I hope this helps!
