Mount Vernon Washington's home has been preserved as it was when he lived there. A Map of the plantation layout is at http://www.mountvernon.org/learn/pres_arch/index.cfm/pid/443/
their are links to pictures and information also.
Monticello Jefferson's home has also been preserved as well as many others all over the south as Historic sites so search for tourist information should get a lot of information.
