The answer is really weird...a negative fraction. I'm having problems understanding how you'd subtract somethng inside parenthesis from a co-efficient (4) with the variable (x). Could someone explain this, please? I really need a thorough explanation. Thanks a lot!

You can subtract 4x first, giving you

-(2x-3) = -4x

Then multiply both sides by -1 to make them positive, and remove the parentheses.

2x-3=4x

Combine like-terms by subtracting 2x from each side.

-3 = 2x

Divide by 2 on each side.

-3/2 = x

basically, when you subtract something inside parenthesis, you do whatever multiplication and/or division there is inside the parenthesis, so that you're only left with an expression that has plus and minus signs, then remove the parenthesis and change the signs of the expression in the parenthesis (i.e from plus sign to minus sign, or vice versa).

so, in this case, the equation is:

4x-2x+3 =0
2x +3 =0
2x=-3
x=-1.5

Simplifying
4x + -1(2x + -3) = 0

Reorder the terms:
4x + -1(-3 + 2x) = 0
4x + (-3 * -1 + 2x * -1) = 0
4x + (3 + -2x) = 0

Reorder the terms:
3 + 4x + -2x = 0

Combine like terms: 4x + -2x = 2x
3 + 2x = 0

Solving
3 + 2x = 0

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '-3' to each side of the equation.
3 + -3 + 2x = 0 + -3

Combine like terms: 3 + -3 = 0
0 + 2x = 0 + -3
2x = 0 + -3

Combine like terms: 0 + -3 = -3
2x = -3

Divide each side by '2'.
x = -1.5

Simplifying
x = -1.5

4x-(2x-3)=0
let 2x-3=K
treat this as
4x-k=0

when we change the side we change the sign as K was having -ve sign in front so we change the sign and make it +ve

4x = k

replace K by its value

4x = 2x-3
bring 2x to left and change the sign

4x-2x=-3
2x=-3

x=-3/2

I hope i made it clear........
