You need a cd writer or a dvd writer, they are also called burners. You also need a blank cd or dvd, you may choose once only which is cd-r or dvd-r or those that can be overwritten and reused again, which is called cd-rw or dvd-rw. Next is you need the software which I'll mention is NERO, the most popular type that normally comes together with the hardware you buy. For example you want to burn (copy) your photos you took with a digital camera that you saved in your harddrive. The easiest way is to assemble all your pictures you wish to copy into one folder. It can be a folder you create on the desktop or in 'my pictures'. You launch Nero. Then depending on whether you want to write to a cd or dvd, you select in Nero either dvd or cd. DVD has 4.3 gb space while cd has 650mb. You can choose a data disc in this case, then a window pops up, then select 'add', it takes you to another window where you search for the folder where you wish to add the files. You keep adding them until you reach capacity where a line limiter is shown. If you had selected cd, the upper limit would be in the region of 650 mb. Once you've added all the songs, you go next and follow the prompts. Ensure from the start that a blank cd is in your cd/dvd burner. A dvd burner can burn cdr or cdrw discs but not the other way around, ie. cd burner can't burn dvd discs.

The same way you burn anything else to a CD.

There are probably programs for creating a photo gallery on a CD that can pop up and let people view the pics.

I usually just create a data disc, and dump the files directly onto it.

using picasa u can neatly arrange pics . it also has other options too like collage etc... try it
