Maybe the animal thinks that we are using the young as "bait" to get them too.
It makes sense, because a predator might wound a young one (so that it couldn't get away) and wait for it much larger (and meatier) parent to come after it. So animals developed an instinct to avoid their young when it smells like a predator.
Plus there is the fact that the first lady said: they don't recognize the smell of their own young anymore, so they don't know that it is their own young.

Yeah, the smell is probably it for animals whose survival depends upon smell more than any other sense.
It's not happening with the kittens being born in litters of 5 to various wild females in my alley/garage right now - in fact, they respond to my voice for having gotten used to it during the pregnancy -squirming and squeeking while feeding off their mother when I start talking while checking in on them.

It relies upon on although if the animal trusts the guy and the heady scent. I worked ina puppy shop for an prolonged time till at last i began out elevating them myself. I in no way as quickly as had a guardian consume their youthful. i became taught by the proper how plenty time to furnish the mum in the previous I dealt with the toddlers and the thank you to bond with them in the previous. it fairly is all in believe. they gained't nurture them in the event that they experience threatened or be attentive to some thing is incorrect with them. If some thing is incorrect, they're going to enable them to die. I fairly have raised guinea pigs and left the mothers and fathers the two in with the toddlers and in no way had problems with cannibalism.

Because we are their natural enemy. It's a safety/survival issue, they probably feel if their young has been contaminated (for lack of better term), so can they.
