keep up with a healthy diet and you can take flintstones or gummy vitamins and you will get almost all you need. Just check with your MD and let her know that's what you're doing...most people agree that some vitamins are better than no vitamins....

I also am pregnant and having the same problem. You should still take the vitamins. Just think of the baby... I am 15 weeks the doctor said it will probably get better. The next time they will switch my vitamins if I am not doing better.
Ask them to write out a prenatal vitamin not a certain brand, that way you can talk to the pharmacist about what kind may be easier for you to take, that is what they are gonna do for me..... Good Luck, keeping those things down & hang in there, your not the only one........

When you say you feel better - do you mean your stomach?
If you get pains, nausea or vomiting after taking the prenatals try taking them after eating and change when you take them. I had terrible morning sickness with #2 and could only keep the prenatal vitamins down after lunch (or dinner if I was very sick at lunch time).
Prescription or over-the-counter prenatals have basically the same stuff. Check with your doctor on the other vitamins and minerals, but the one thing I know you REALLY need daily is at least 400 mcg of Folic Acid (B9). Folic Acid helps the spinal column and nervous system develop properly.
If after trying the changes of when/how you take the prenatals and you are still having problems you can get separate folic acid tablets and take them daily. Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin, so your body will get rid of the extra if you get too much.
There is only one possible problem with getting too much folic acid - it can hide a B12 deficiency. This is more of an issue with vegetarians, so talk to your doc if you are a veggie.
I hope something here helps. Take care and congrats!

Yes, just eat a proper healthy diet. Most of what is in prenatal is never actually absorbed by your body. I am pregnant for the third time, none of which have taken prenatal for. With my second I did use chewable from time to time but they are worse than prenatals as far as whats actually absorbed. If you eat healthy and get all of your vitamins from food you'll be fine. Some of the prenatals even have an unhealthy TOO HIGH amount of some things. I was in the same position as you with them, they made me very sick!

the first prenatal vitamins that I was given made me feel sick. I asked the doctor to change me to something else. The ones that I have now work a lot better. Maybe you should ask your doctor to switch your vitamins.

Eat extremly healthy. However, it would take alot of food to equal what your body needs. Try changing vitamins. Every vitamin will make you feel a little different. I take over the counter from wal mart, they don't make me sick if I take them with food and at night before bed. Now that I'm in the last part, I can take them whenever without feeling sick.

Probably not. Check with your doctor and see if she can recommend any that are more gentle on your stomach. Remember to not take them on an empty stomach because that will definitely make you feel sick. Finally, get in the habit of taking them in the afternoon or evening - it may decrease that queasy feeling you get first thing in the morning. I was prescribed Natelle EZ (which is supposed to be gentle on the stomach) on my first prenatal visit and vitamins B6/B12 - that is supposed to help with queasiness as well. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and feel sick for a while...don't forget that it's only temporary!!

I've tried 6 brands of vitamins. I finally found one that I can tolerate but it still makes me feel ill. I took one at bedtime one night and I was fine. Try to take yours at night. You MUST take the vitamins.

your tummy probably doesn't like the iron.
talk to your OB about prenatal vitamins without iron and then take some iron supplements once you get closer to the finish line.
take care.
