We live in a litiginous society. The way to combat a frivolous lawsuit is to counter-sue. If the Chungs do have local support, perhaps an attorney might take their case pro bono (for free) and sue Judge Roy Pearson. They might also consider filing judicial tenure charges against him . They might also consider contacting talk shows so that the case gets a lot of high profile publicity. They also ought to get support from Asian American associations and dry-cleaning associations. Finally, when the judge comes up for re-election, they should help campaign for his rival.

First and foremost whom ever controls the judges in the district should have him under go a psychological evaluation. A pair of pants one week late does not equal this type of outrageous behavior. Some screws are definitely loose in this guys brain. I shudder to think of him passing judgment on cases that come under his jurisdiction.

How this guy is able to judge ANYTHING is beyond me! He is clearly psychotic and in need of serious mental help. Please make sure he doesn't get re-elected or appointed or whatever the hell it is they have to be to maintain their gavel.

I would counter sue him on the grounds he is mentally incompetent to hold office. Since he declined their offer of 3000, three times what his suit was worth, he opted out of their "Satisfaction Guaranteed" clause, they did more than enough to try to satisy this loon.

What a world we live in where that guy can judge anyone or anything!

Funny you asked this question this way! I read this very same story on the Internet and wondered if anyone on Yahoo Answers had mentioned it. When I read how you had worded your question, "how ridiculously absurd is this?" - immediately I knew it had to be about this nutcase JUDGE ROY PEARSON!

I think this guy, JUDGE ROY PEARSON (I think his name should be used, repeated, and besmurched as much as possible!) is EVIL and SICK and A MORON, and being thrown off the bench is the LEAST that should happen to this sick f&#$! This has to be one of the single biggest abuses of our courts and justice system ever! For ANYONE to dissect the Constitution and the laws to so outrageously benefit them in this manner - LET ALONE A JUDGE! - is evil! What person in their right mind believes that they have a RIGHT to a dry cleaner within four blocks of their house?!!! THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE UNSEATED ... AND TARRED AND FEATHERED! (By the way, to JUDGE ROY PEARSON if you happen to read this -- THIS IS A JOKE - PLEASE DON'T SUE ME FOR LIBEL! - Yeah, like I care. Bring it on, foooooool!)

The man is obviously in need of psychiatric evaluation. And then he should pay for all the expense that will be incurred when every case he has judged is reopened by people claiming his mental instability caused him to make wrong judgments.

It is totally insane and so is he.

This is beyond the realm of absurdity. This guy should be disbarred and never allowed near a courtroom again.

This is the society that we live in. I hope the Chung's make some changes to the fine print/disclosure for their Dry Cleaning. Now, who's taking who to the cleaners?

I hope the guy loses the case, his job, his friends, and his dignity. Trying to take advantage of these people like this!

And I hope the judge that didn't throw it out loses his job, too.

This is just abuse of the legal system!
