I understand what your trying to say, it does sound kind a empty to hear that now-a-days. I've always told people not to tell me sorry, but to show me. To me actions will always speak louder than words.
The funny thing is, I tell my children to say sorry, if they have done something in need of apologizing. I guess it's just the polite thing to do.

some people seem to think they can get away with anything and saying "sorry" makes it alright. if it's an honest mistake and they are sincere in their apology, I'll forgive them. if they are just saying the word, then I don't. I used to ask my students, "are you sorry you did it or sorry you got caught?"

An act which shows that you're actual repentant, observed with the help of the proclamation that you're certainly sorry, commonly shows your sincerity. And sincerity is a paranormal mission :D

I dont know but its been like that since forever so I guess its just a tradition, some ppl dont even mean it when they say it but I guess they just say it to squash the situation

I mean when people say ha they mean hey shouldnt of done what they did and think it was a bad choice and they will never do it again.In case of murder ''sorry'' doesn fix A thing....
