I think that English is as close as it gets. Everyone who operates an airplane must know it and its the standard language for international business. Its taught to Japanese and Chinese school children as a benefit to them and to help them become successful businessmen and women. Think about it, if you call for any kind of customer support, especially with electronics, you have someone on the other end of the phone sitting in India speaking to you in English helping you with your problem. If English isn't already the international language I think that it soon will be.

I feel sorry for your poor knowledge.
English is the International Language. You are some where and I am some where. We both communicate because we know English.Today, almost in every country at least 10% of the people speaking English. In another 100 or 150 years latter this 10% will become at least 60% or even more. Gradually, after 200 or 300 years from now, English will become the language of this planet.

Esperanto was created in an attempt to build an international language that would reach all nations
unfortunately many people do not even know about it
I am not sure if there will ever be an international language in the future, if it happens, it will probably not be a VERBAL language

English is pretty much the international language. It is the standard for airline traffic around the world. It is also pretty much the basis for all computer work.
Except in the USA. Seems we got some who think Spanish is the international language and we all should learn to speak it.

I thoroughly agree. The chinese language lifestyle is "taking on", as a thank you to communicate. they have a brilliant inhabitants and are spreading vastly. They reproduce like rabbits. I certainly have no longer something against the Asian races, yet many do. that's unlucky that there are various racists accessible, and that they are difficult in this growing to be lifestyle. In Canada there are various Asians, that i've got confidence it is going to likely be the 0.33 language, after English and French. yet specific, i think of chinese language will exchange into and international language.

In my travels I find English is spoken where ever I go. I have been to Japan, Korea, Singapore, Fiji, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland. In May of 2008 I am going to Poland, Slovakia, Hungry, Austria, Ukrain and Czech Republic. I do know a few words fron the countries where I have been and plan to pickup a few more words next year.

It used to be French. US passports still have a French translation.
Right now it's ENGLISH. Go anywhere and you'll find English speaking people and pilots MUST know English.
Latin is a dead language, however your first answerer is partially correct - the universal language of doctors is Latin.

There isn't one.
Some people believe there will be,
like they believe about the one international currency,
but who knows, only time will tell.
The only international language,
well, from a Christian's point of view,
was when God spoke tongues so the people of all dialects could understand him at once.
