Boxes from cardboard,
corrugated as well as pasteboard boxes are made like this:
Cut the shape, including all flaps and little flaps to allow gluing.
(If not done while cutting the outline, cut the flaps so the can fold individually.)
Make a folding line by drawing a line with a blunt knife (machine) or the point of a non sharp object, along all lines where the box will be folded later.
If the box is to be stored flat like most boxes used professionally, the connecting little flap is glued or stapled to the other end of the box.
Next step is fold the box in shape and glue, or tape in shape. Bottom only or bottom first.
If the box is to have a separate lid, this is made the same way, but mostly those boxes do rely more on folding flaps than on glue.

I hope this is step by step enough.

The " dissolution of the ego " . . . Interesting thought. There is an evolvement...a subtle yet clear shift there somewhere that evolves to a being of stronger compassion. There is a book on the market titled " Cutting through Spiritual Materialism " by...Chogyam Trungpa / Sakyong Mipham. In part, the concept of the book covers . . . ..." Walking the spiritual path properly is a very subtle process; it is not something to jump into naively. There are numerous sidetracks which lead to a distorted, ego-center version of spirituality; we can deceive ourselves into thinking we are developing spiritually when instead we are strengthening our egocentricity through spiritual techniques. This fundamental distortion may be referred to as spiritual materialism. " ..." The universal human tendency, he shows, is to see spirituality as a process of self-improvement...the impulse to develop and refine the ego when the ego is, by nature, essentially empty." The ego being a " curse " as you phrased it ? Ego has it's place in the sphere of evolvement. Just as " fear " has it's place. Fear can bring us to think to " be careful "...Think about what is upcoming. Yet, anything, any emotion, abused is not healthy. Balance...enlightenment is brought about through awareness. All happens for for a reason. Emotions are there for a reason. To respect and learn from all . . . that is to be paid attention to . . . To be evolved through.
