I mean, we are born, go to school, work most of our lives, retire when we are to old and decrepit to fully appreciate it, is there any point to all this? other than keeping the human race going!

the point is to make your life worth living. There is more to this than just the mere being born, study, work , retire, in the process of all these are relationship building, finding meanings and essence of your life or existence. Finding purpose and directions.
The ultimate purpose is to live life, not to question it, but live it to the fullest. Enjoy it and leave a legacy behind. Loving people could be one of them. make a significant impact on a person or society to make this world a better place to live.

But then we ask, what would be the point of keeping the human race going? What is the point? Sounds crazy to me.

you define your life not others. the life you describe is actually only held by the minority of people on this earth so wake up. ask yourself what you want and go for it. yeah you do have to work at something but that is not the sum of your life. even in wesern cultures you do not have to fit into a mold you just have to be brave enough to take chances. good luck

You'll only know the real answer to this question when you get to the end of your life. That's when it all passes before your eyes and you go, "!DAMN!!!", I should have done this and that and more of this and less of that." The key is to live the best life that you can. Have lots of fun, do good things and be proud of yourself. It's up to you. Live a good life of waste it. Good Luck!

To know God, to love God, to serve God and to spend eternity with God. We were made in the image and likeness of God.

OK, let me see if I can break this down and explain it a bit.

A child is created out of love. (usually) You fall in love with someone and through that love life is created. So, it is with God. God is love. Out of His love, we, his children were created. Just as every parent wishes their child to have an easy life with no problems and we want to protect and shelter them from all that would hurt them sometimes we have to allow them the room to grow and make their own mistakes.

A parent teaches a child to look both ways before crossing the street so as to 'save' him from being hit by a vehicle and killed. God gave us rules that will help us not only live a better life here on earth, but will help 'save' our soul so that we can spend all eternity with Him.

When you get to know Him, you can feel His love. It makes sense then.

Life doesn't really have a point in itself. Mostly existence is the eternal struggle to not be uncomfortable (i.e too hot, too cold, hungry, lonely etc...).

Being is an end in itself. "Having" is a route to making "being" less uncomfortable.

Some people like to "have" lots and lots of things because they believe that it makes "being" more bearable.

Some people desire to "have" less, realizing that being is an end in itself--which has no point.

If what you've got is more important to you than what you haven't got, then you're winning.

When you find out, let me know.

After taking countless philosophy, theology, psychology and sociology classes, I have come to the conclusion that, as good as some of these theories are, nobody knows a damn thing. It's all speculation.

I have been a psychologist fro 12 years and the simple answer to that is.............well, the meaning of life is what YOU THINK it is my luv, and that is a FACT , no philosophy , no god, no hidden meanings, if your life is boring then your boring, if your life is happy , then your happy. Life is what you make it. That is what i tell all my patiants and freinds.
