Review Consumer magazines that have recommendations on washing machines. No longer should you go on just a brand name, unlike in the past your best chance is to understand price points. Because of the Lowes, Walmarts and Home Depots of the world, brand name products will be stationed in these stores but not live up to the reputation of the brand, because they are trying to move as many units as possible. This encourages the brand to make the product cheaply. When you do make a decision, see how the washing machine is backed. Is it warrantied by the store or by the brand? You want it to be warrantied by the brand because it is what they do. The store is in the business to sell the product, not warranty it. However, they will sell you a warranty. I have a Maytag Neptune washer and Dryer and I swear by them. No problems whatsoever.

I have a Roper from Whirlpool. I have had the set for about 4 years now, and they run great. I always do, at the very least, 2 loads a day and it has run like a champ the whole time. And, the set I have are the basic set, and Roper is the less expensive of the Whirlpool brand. We got ours at Rex, I dont know if you have one in your area or not. Good luck!

GE, Wirlpool, Maytag. All of the major suppliers have quality machines. Go to their web sites and check out their models. If it's money you're trying to save, look in the yellow pages under used appliances. You should be able to find one there and save a bunch. Good luck
