Yeah, that is exceptionally rude behavior. Callers should announce who they are and politely ask if the person they are calling is available.

Yes, I agree. I think the person making the call should introduce themselves first.

No one ever introduces themselves and I always have to ask who is calling. Of course, I usually already know, because I have caller ID, but they should definately introduce themselves when calling.

The last time I got one of those calls that start by saying "My name is so and so and I want to ask you a few questions about what you think about the best buy for a convertible bed and never give you a chance to even breathe, I let them go through their whole spiel and then tell them: "Do you realize that this is the City Morgue?" They hang up immediately, and mercifully, I never hear from them again.

That tears my nerves completly up!!
I used to have to deal with that a lot when I had a roommate. Her family would always call talking about "who is this". I would get real nasty with them and say right back " WHO IS THIS??"
Now that I live alone I don't have to deal wtih that nonsense anymore. If anyone were to ever call my house like that now they would get a quick click click.

I enjoy that! When they say "who is it?" I ask "Who do you wish to speak to?" They will continue and ask "who is this?" I then will say "if you don't know who you called and who you want to talk to then I guess you have the wrong number." I hang up and they never call again.
Even with my friends I will say "Hi ( ) hey it is Lynn. People are so funny.

I never introduce myself, ppl never introduce themselves, only if you say "could Anna call me back" for example, so the other asks "call back who?". Just fine....

They're obviously being sneaky - I always stand my ground with these people, I've had a 5 min argument because someone called who didn't want to identify themselves until they spoke to Mr X (who was me) and I didn't want to identify myself until I knew who was looking for me... it just went round and round until they had to come clean, and I realised it was the precise company I didn't wish to speak to and I said I wasn't who they were looking for.
Five whole minutes of shouting and trying to outsmart each other, lol, it was very amusing.

YES! You called me, who are you looking for?
I had this happen many times when I held a customer service position. I could hardly introduce myself before they are like, Who is this? Geesh, people can be so rude.

Alot of people missed out on the respect class at some point in their life. Not only that but those damn machines we have to talk to makes me want to choke someone.
