Singers lip sync because in the US shows are supposed to be flashy, thus why we go to them. But it is physically impossible to do hip-hop dance moves with pop singing. Thus causing them to lip sync.

Britney Spears was actually boo'd from stage the first time she did an out of the country tour.

Lip syncing normally pertains to any singer who does alot of dancing, which is why you dont see alot of Rock musicians dancing up a storm on the stage.

Hope it helped,

I think the issue is that these performers bill it as a live performance. So when it turns out, that in fact, this is just some studio rendition it's disappointing. Plus who knows what tweaking has been done to the recorded version? I mean, when you get down to it, can this person actually sing or what? I also think it's kind of trashy to lip sync the national anthem. And as for arguments justifying lip syncing, Aretha Franklin sang live for real at the inauguration. It was pretty cold out and she's ain't exactly young. Personally, I would hire her for all future renditions of any and all songs at nationally televised events. ---------------------------------- 2nd answerer is dead wrong. Clearly live performances can be given at large venues. --------------------------------- Oh, to actually answer your question, I don't consider it okay either way. The lack of crticism for the Super Bowl lip synching probably has to do with the NFL public relations department.

Some lip sync because it's hard for them to dance and sing at the same time.

The ones you refer to are not just singers. They are "entertainers." Most of them have to dance as well. Singing AND dancing are extremely hard to do together. The entertainer ends up losing his or her breath and sounding weak and...well...out of breath. A true "singer" (like an opera style singer) will not lip synch. Besides, if they didn't lip synch, they would never mess up on live TV and we'd have one less reason to make fun of them! ; )

It's hard to sing live during dancing.

It's more about the looks not the singing.

protect their voice, vocal cords.

Plus they can play the studio cut, and that would sound better than most live acts, because of the filters, etc etc.
