Dress code is part of evolution. Your presentation describes your values to some extents. I don't wearing national costumes would remind one of their history. What we wear is what we are comfortable in. As far as history is concerned. Every individual is aware of certian level of national history.
Today we wear dresses. there was a time when our ancestors wore minmal things to cover their body. Did we forget it?
All the best...

hai
i am from india
in the struggle of our indipendance the dress made from KHADI played an important role
it is considered as a symbol of nationalism
in the post independent india the khadi became a tool for polititions.
common man find new materials cheaper than khadi
and for them dress is not the mean to express their national loyalty but a mean to protect their body and pride.
do you think these khadi wearing poliyitions are more aware of our history and patriotic than the common man or a business exicutive??
i dont
the dress may matter in appearence but the heritage of citizens wont diminish through it.
moreover adapting the best is the secret of human success itself

if you believe that nationalism is an artificial concept - i.e a constructed identitiy with the idea to bring unity - and you believe that national costumes are part of this construct then no it doesn't mean that because you don't wear it you know nothing of or are attenpting to forget your countries past. the two aren't mutually dependent !

Some modern additions to national dress are more convenient.... like knitted shirts ... and some are easier to launder .....and easier for everyday
But it is nice to keep traditional clothes for 'good' wear, festivals, etc. especially if there is a nice modern version
available that makes cleaning them easier
Peace & Love

Rahatji, it has nothing to do with history. Most of the people donot read the history . They just see what is convenient to them at a time, be it free from what is good & what is bad.
