In the film American Beauty a character said that the most beautiful thing he had ever seen was an empty plastic bag dancing in the air.
Art can be anything and everything. Art is a personal thing. It is a feeling, a reaction to something.
Is art a bag floating in the air? Let people decide for themselves, that is the beauty of art, allowing one person to love it, and another to hate it.

this can be a very divisive subject - art has many forms and not all would everyone consider art.
Take for instance Tracy Emin, I personally wouldn't consider the things she produces (The Bed) to be art at all.
But at the end of the day, it is what you the observer decides what is art.
As for me, Leonardo Da Vinci wins my vote every time.....genius

I would say that "art" is creating something (an object, a song, a building, a painting... etc) in order for it to be admired by others, and hopefully inspire them. That something nowadays isn't necessarilly beautiful or pretty... it can be ugly and disturbing, but it can still atract attention. In a way, I beleive that anyone who creates something primarily wants to satisfy and express his own self and beliefs. However, as an artist myself, I believe that self-satisfaction on it's own is not enough, hence artists seek to show their work, to gain the approval or disapproval of people.

art is something that makes you happy or shows your feelings whether its a painting a sculpture or a masterpiece whatever you feel becomes your art whether others feel the same or not..
