It depends. If you have your Economics bachelors and you want to go for Masters in Business Administration (which is right after University graduation), you don't need work experience. But if you already have a Master, and now you're trying for MBA (which is a lot more than just a Master and damn expensive as well) then you need work experience. It depends on the institution, some cheap ones ask for at least 1 year experience as a manager or project manager, but very famous MBA schools are asking for up to 5 years work experience as at least project manager for being selected. It's one of the criteria. Google for the school you want to attend your MBA at and they will surely have preselection criteria.

it is always beneficial to begin a graduate program with some work experience. Graduate schools want to see that you are able to maintain a job. You can apply work experiences to your education. It is also difficult to get a job with a graduate degree but no work experience. Companies can hire an undergrad for that and they will hire an undergrad with no experience before they hire an MBA with no experience (they are cheaper to hire).
Good Luck!

Not true. It depends on the MBA program you are in. Check with the school you are thinking of attending.
