Its those horney statisticians manipulating the statistics Sweetie. Marriage is an Institution here but who wants to be in an institution is the old joke.

The divorce rate is so high because people just jump into marriage these days with out really getting to know the other or themselves!!! and no one values the sanctity of marriage and family life anymore! Also it's way to easy to get a divorce these days that everyone is doing it! If it was harder to get a Divorce, people might think twice before entering in to a marriage! Also people need to realize that marriage is hard work! You just don't leave when it gets rough!!! Stick it out and work it out!

Alienation.
People rush into marriage, without thinking. For wrong reasons and without really knowing the other part. That way nothing can succede.
Marriage is something you have to be prepared for, and something you have to invest in your time and devotion.
It changes life from the very essence, so couple should be really prepared for such a big step. It is a big step.
Love is essence, but it is not enough. People have to realize that they will have to give up something.
Yet, without love nothing is enough to keep it.

Because women have choices today not to remain in an unhappy relationship. Add to the the fact that many people marry for the wrong reasons to begin with and you have a recipe for divorce. The fact that many women are no longer economic slaves to their husbands and you have the freedom needed for a marital change.

People now days have no sense of loyalty or commitment. They are kind of like sports players. They like the free agency so they can go to where the money is. I guess I'm old fashioned. My wife and I have been married for over 29 years.
