If the most powerful nation on earth does not have the will power or the comittment to defeat a few thousand so call insurgents to help preserve our way of life. Then in future conflicts who can we count on to defeat as a enemy, the boy scouts, the girl scouts? If this is the way this nation deal with with a protracted conflict it does not bode well for our nation our enemies has to be watching and smiling.

The Democrats are playing politics with soldier's lives, Bush doesn't play politics, he leads! Yes, soldiers are dying under his leadership, but 911 showed us we can't keep sweeping the Middle East under the rug anymore. They wanted our undivided attention; they got it!

The democrat's and to some extent the republicans are using scare tactics for political gain. It is both sad and unfortunate that those who govern this nation play politics with the lives of American soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines. However, this has always been one aspect of being in the military. I don't agree with the war or the reasoning behind it, however, you can't cry over spilled milk. I think we need to better equip and train our soldiers and allow them to finish the mission correctly. If we pull out of Iraq now, we show a very weak front to our enemies and to the terrorists who wish us nothing but harm. By staying the course and seeing this through, we show we will not be cowed by the cowardly acts perpetrated by those who would see us destroyed. That those who wish to lead this nation would see us take another course is both very shocking and frightening. Do they truly have the best interest's of the American citizen in their heart's and mind's? This is the question that all Americans need to ask as the elections draw nearer. Will they actually do what's right by us, or will they do what is politically feasible? Will they support us and the troops, or will they further their own political objectives? Will they support the special interest's and big business, or the average everyday working American? Only you can decide this. I personnally will not support any candidate endorsed by George W. Bush nor will I support Hillary R. Clinton or Barrack Obama. To me these people have all of the wrong answers when it comes to the tough questions. What you have to ask yourself is do they really represent you? Is this war lost? It is if we, the voting American public fail to send a strong signal to all of our elected officials saying stay the course, support the troops the way they are supposed to be supported, and finish this job we started. If we fail to do this, then yes, the war is lost and maybe America as well.

Insurgents? They may as well be freedom fighters. It all depends on from were u are looking at it. And what did Iraq do to interfere with the US way of life? Did THEY send suicide squads to the US? As far as I know, Iraq did not have any Al-Quaeda or any chemical weapons. So what was the war about in the first place! But US does have a responsibility just the way a driver is responsible for the man he has hit on the road. The paedestrian was fine apart from his own bit of worries until the driver ran over him with a 2tonne vehicle. Its the same thing with Iraq. US should fix the nation that they themselves broke before they leave or it will set a bad examples. Coz U R THE MOST POWERFUL NATION IN THE WORLD!!!

A few thousand insurgents are not the only problem in Iraq. There are Sunnis fighting Shiites, Shiites fighting Shiites, Sunnis fighting Al Qaeda, Al Qaeda fighting Americans and Shiites, various other groups fighting coalition forces and each other. There are also criminal groups taking advantage of the chaotic situation for personal gain.
General Petraeus says there is “no military solution.” If there is no military solution, how do you suggest that we fight this so-called war?

Its not only Democrats who say the war is lost, its generals like Franks and Abizaid (before they were replaced for not siding with Bush), troops on the ground, and intelligence estimates that say this war is lost. And its the incompetence of the Bush administration for getting us into this modern day Vietnam. When victory is no longer possible, the intelligent thing to do is get out and find a diplomatic solution instead of continuing to lose 100 US soldiers per month for a lost cause. We have to stop living in denial and get the hell out of there instead of sending more soldiers home in coffins for the sake of pride.

You can't defeat an enemy which you can't identify easily, now can you?
Yes, you can carpet-bomb the country back into the Stone Age, or until hell freezes over, but unless you have a *concise* plan and idea on WHO the enemy is and where he is operating without abandon...?
All you're going to do is waste lives, waste time, money, and resources playing "Whack-A-Mole" for the next 6-7 years.

why don't you sign up pal and go fight if you feel so strongly about this ,and just so you know there is nothing to lose or win what the hell are we gonna win as far as i am concerned these particular folks (in the middle east) have been fighting about everything seance the beginning of time lets step out of the way and let them have at it and just in case you haven't been paying attention we have a selfish brat as our president who will do it his way he has no intention of stopping this war until he gets his "secret mission " accomplished and seeing as he keeps quietly taking our rights from us as citizens shortly there will be not much we can do about it , i just don't understand people like you who i am sure your pro life but yet also pro war hypocrite

It's a hypothetical argument.
The most powerful nation on earth is NOT fighting to "help preserve its way of life". You're sorely deluded if you ever thought that your way of life was ever under threat from Iraq.
