Please help me. I make small baby blankets, and I need a name for my little business. My blankets are snuggly and cuddly. They have loops of ribbon around the edges. As for the name, I really like the idea of having bugs in the theme. i.e. Cute as a Bug, Snuggle Bug, etc., except that those are overdone. I would also like to stay rather broad, so I can include other items in my business as well. Any ideas?? Thank you so much for your thoughts.

I agree that it should begin with a letter early in the alphabet. And you definitely want to check that no other company (worldwide) shares the name.

The naming party is a great idea as well. Just don't be disappointed if you don't come up with something from it that you love. Find a few words that you like the sound/look of, then build on those. Play with the words and any rabbit trails they lead down. I suggest recording yourself as you'll forget all the ideas you'll create.

Things related to babies and their blankets: 'sn' sounds, calm waters, baskets, basking in the sun, rosy cheeks, roses, blue eyes, peach fuzz...the list can just go from wherever to whatever.

I personally like putting "etc." at the end of the name of the business to show that you have more products, etc. Others may not like that, but I think it sounds pretty inclusive and professional, yet fun.
like:

"Bundle Blankets, Etc."

If I actually think of a decent name, I will post it. But those are some ideas for creating your own.

Best wishes!

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Adorable Baby Boutique???

I like using names that begin with A for the placement in alpha searches. Try to include your mission statement into the name so people don't have to guess what you sell. You can always use the words "and more" if you want to branch into other things like story hours for kids which can employ local teens to give puppet shows and book readings. Network stay at home Moms for a social center for occasional groups. Get the kids into the store from an early age, brand yourself, and you'll have a long term relationship with parents and children. Devote your time and talents to being the best you can be. Ask customers and potential customers what they are looking for and remember price is an excuse. Customers prefer safety and quality and knowledge to low prices.
