External Monitor and why can't it play video streams?

I have a HP ze2000 Laptop. The Laptop was unrepairable due to unknown circumstances, and because of the cost for repair, I got an external monitor which is a Samsung SyncMaster 731N. My only problem with it as of yet is that when I play video streams it shows up on the faint original monitor but blank with only audio on the external monitor. Without doing something too extreme, is there a correct way to solve this?

Is the external monitor setup in the bios to be the primary graphics adapter? Coulde be the issue.
