The Gynie thinks i might have Endomitriosis, they found cysts on my ovaries on an ultrasound would this be Endo or something different as well? anyway so am having a laparoscopy, will i be sore afterwards or is it no biggie? Also he said if possible he might remove something if he finds it. Is it always possible to do this with Endo. thanks

My friend had one and she was uncomfortable for a few days. You need to rest for a few days and then start back to normal slowly.
Good luck

Hope the webiste will help you.

Yes, cysts can be a part of dealing with endometriosis. I have had 4 laparoscopies and the average recovery time is 1-2 weeks but it can take longer depending on how much work was done during the surgery.

Eat light for the first few weeks after surgery because your stomach will be quite sensitive because of the surgery. I learned the hard way about eating too much even of solids too soon after my very first laparoscopy.

Please also rest lots during the first week of your recovery, and even at 8-12 weeks post-op please be careful how much you do in the way of activity because even if you think you feel well enough to do it it will set your recovery back.

With pain meds (because yes you will be sore from this procedure) please take it on schedule to keep the pain in check instead of waiting til you can't stand the pain. Waiting til you can't stand the pain is not when you want to take the medicine because by then it's too late and one of two things could happen: 1. a delay in the medicine starting to work or 2. not work at all at that time. When the prescription says take as needed for pain it means taking it as soon as the pain starts but the best way to keep it from being a huge problem is to take the medicine on schedule.

Laparoscopy even though it is a minimially invasive surgery because of the incision size is still major surgery.

That's good that your dr will remove what endo he finds if he finds it which leads me to another point. If your dr says that you don't have endometriosis but still have the same kind of pain you did before the lap that doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have it, it just means that he couldn't see the endo that is in certain locations such as behind the uterus.

I had a laparoscopy in October last year. They discovered I had polyps, endometriosis and cysts on my right ovary. However I had my laparoscopy during surgery to remove my ovary and tube on the right hand side so I cannot tell you what it is like during the procedure as I was asleep.

Endometriosis and cysts on your ovary are two different things but my surgeon said that it is quite common to get the two conditions together. Cysts can sometimes be harmless, I did not know this but every woman gets them at a certain point in their cycle, they disappear again afterwards. It can depend on when they performed the scan, sometimes they see them and sometimes they don't.

It has all gone wrong for me though and only 6 months down the line the endometriosis is back and I now have cysts on the other ovary so I am having a hysterectomy in 2 weeks time.

Interesting question as I'm on the waiting list for a laparoscopy too. I've been told (by two women at work who have it done) that afterwards it's uncomfortable and you can bleed - it kind of feels like a bad period. They suggested I get in a supply of sanitary towels. My Dr has told me I need to have someone to take me to, and pick me up from the hospital if someone cannot stay there with me while I have the operation. They also said I should have someone with me for the next 24hrs - 48hrs if possible. I'm planning on taking a week off work - just to make sure I'm fully recovered and not at all sore before I go back. Good luck - I hope you get the problem sorted out.

Hi Jane

I had a Laparoscopy as well as other procedures in March 07. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic. I had two small incisions made; one in my belly button and one on my bikini line. They healed fine with minimal scarring. During the procedure they fill your abdominal cavity with carbon dioxide in order to create more room to work in. This caused my stomach to be bloated for a couple of weeks, though everyone is different. I was given pain relief to take home with me and I needed it for the first few days as I was quite sore. The first night was the worst and things got progressively better over the next couple of weeks. I lost a lot of bright red blood post-operative and had a red/brown dischrage for about 10 days after. My first period was ok after the procedure, but my second (which I am on now) is exstremely painful and I have had to take co-codamol. In additions my emotions and hormones are a bit erratic. I have been told this is normal!!. In my case I am starting Prostap injections and Livial add-back therapy next week to counteract my bad endo pains and severe pmt. E-mail if you would like any more info. Hope this helps.

I had one last October to remove Endometriosis. Afterwards I was a bit uncomfortable but I wouldn't say in pain. The worst pain I had was in my shoulder due to the gas they pump in your stomach apparently. They laser the endo at the same time as doing the lap. They do advise you to take a week off work. All the best.

I had one two years ago, had a hysteroscopy at the same time (which is where they put camera up the other place) You will be sore, I was off work two weeks but was hope the same day of operation. You'll struggle to walk and you wont be able to bend for a few days, and a word of warning, the must place gas into your stomach to look about and your belly swells up, I looked about 6 months pregant when I got home. If they do repair work could be different, I had repair work done which was maybes why it was bad. (just trying to be honest by the way not scare u senseless! :) ) - email me if you need any further info, good luck x

My mom had me and my sister, and he or she had endo. It took approximately a 300 and sixty 5 days for her to get pregnant with my sister i've got faith. additionally, what the final practitioner was speaking approximately was an endometrioma. Endometriosis is the specific subject. I had an endometrioma on the exterior of my uterus which was stated for the time of my 1st laparoscopy. additionally, a analysis of endometriosis isn't a infertility sentence. it ought to take merely slightly longer, whether frequently you're arranged to have a toddler.
