He was an Apache Indian who led many attacks against the "white men" trying to take over their land. He used guerrilla tactics and was quite successful as he fought in the western areas of the US.

Geronimo was the leader of the last American Indian fighting force formally to capitulate to the United States. Because he fought against such daunting odds and held out the longest, he became the most famous Apache of all.

Geronimo is the name given to him by the Mexicans, since his war was thought in the boarder areas of America.

He is famous for being a great warrior and giving the US Army a really hard fight.

Geronimo was the head of the Apache tribe. The war leader. He knew it would destroy his people to give in to the Yanks and he fought them with all he had to keep the Apache hunting grounds.
