The lower classes do not seem to care about feeling embarrassed, whereas the middle/upper classed, highly educated folk seem to be shy or blush easily.

This study was actually done at Oxford University.

It is because etiquette and good mannerisms prevail in the middle/upper classes.

Joan Tipton - I can tell you belong in the lower class. The way you use no capital letters when starting a sentence. You have bad grammar = uneducated.

Good manners/etiquette prevail in the middle/upper classes? You're having a laugh, right? They might know which of the many forks to use at a poncey dinner party or whatever but most of them have no manners whatsoever when it comes to social etiquette, especially simple pleasantries such as 'please' and 'thank you'.
Have you ever driven around some of the more salubrious areas of London and been practically forced off the road by middle class women hogging the middle of the road in their Chelsea tractors, and then been glared at for daring to be on the road at the same time as them?
Ever listened to noisy, middle class students loudly braying "Oh my GOD, that's SO cool!" constantly?
I'm working class and proud, and I mean working class in the sense that I get off my backside, work, and pay tax, not sit around scrounging.
And if you're thinking I'm one of those "going on the defensive" as you put it, then you're right. But if you're looking down your nose at me for doing so then it says a lot about you. You're a snob. Ultimately, we're all human, we come from nothing and we'll all end up with nothing.

PS: Thanks for the thumbs-down. Could I just point out: Good mannerisms? Very erudite. Is that a bit like having good manners but slightly different? Or is it a genetic thing?

Well you could knock me down with a feather, all these years of been someone who's shy and gets embarrassed easily and here I am supposed to be middle to upper class and all this time I just thought I was me, a down to earth person who doesn't see peoples class only the person, as long as they have manners and no arrogance then class doesn't matter with me.

What would interest me is how you determine what upper- middle- or lower-class is. Is it based on how much money you have? If you live in a villa, or in a tenement? To me, you are upper class if you are decent, kind, intelligent, tolerant and generous. You are lower class if you are trashy, rude, ignorant, hostile or arrogant. People who think, and are concerned about people's opinions about them tend to be shy or embarrass easily. It doesn't matter a rat's **** if they have a lot of money or not.

You can't tell from their answers what 'class' they are in, a large number have simply answered yes or no.......... Quite frankly sir you are a moron and mentioning Oxford does not change the fact that you smell of dog egg's.

embarrasement and shyness has nothing to do with what class you belong to. so the report that you read is not true'every one get embarrest at some point in their lives no matter what class they may belong to.as for shyness that depends on the person and not what class he or she may belong to.i get shy when i first meet people

I don't care what class anyone wants to 'put' me in because i believe we are all equal !
I suggest more people should adopt this belief!

I'm working class and proud of it, but I'm shy and reserved.
But I'm also glad I'm different from the norm.

You have made a good point here. I can usually tell people's social status based on their answers/questions.

Lower classes tend to be oblivious to good etiquette - They display an aggressive tone and tend to type in all caps.
