I'm trying to do my bit for climate control and turn off appliances that I'm not actually using.

I turn it off properly too, because I'm good like that. Unfortunately I reckon because my on/off button is hidden behind the back of the TV under a flap (I know weird design, right?) that the designers thought I'd just leave it on standby. Not very environmental thinking me thinks!

I turn it off properly. I used to leave it on standby but heard this uses the same electricity as if it was on.

Really, are you serious about it blowing up. I always leave it on stand-by even at night. But of late to save electricity, I started doing it the proper way but story is scary....
