First of all Rock music or Alternative in general. Don't forget that (unfortunately) the likes of The Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys and other such erm...bands...could be classed as rock. Second I think if you listen carefully to alot of alternative music there are alot of skillful musicians in the genre(s). Alot of the music I listen too is described by people I know as "Screaming and shouting rubbish" when if you take the time to listen to the likes of BFMV or Trivium there are alot of very melodic and impressive songs they play.

To answer your question then, I would say no, but I'm sure that the vast majority of YA users will disagree.

EDIT: Further to this, I hate getting drawn into this sort of debate because I wonder why I care what people say about my music. I never feel so good as when I listen to my music and that should mean i don't care but look, i've done it again! >.< lol

It takes all kinds to make a world. I remember when I first heard The Dead Kennedys. Every song on the album sounded exactly the same to me, but after listening a few times I was able to perceive the uniqueness of the songs and enjoy them. So if rock music isn't making any sense to you musically, a little familiarity will help you appreciate the music that is there.

Music generally reflects emotion. It's not just noice, composition wise rock is as complicated and in a lot of cases more complicated e.g. Led Zeplin is really intrequite music.

If you don't enjoy rock (there are so many types of rock!) then you simply can't relate to it. Most people today enjoy most genres because people live much more open, socially aware and less exclusive lives than 30+ years ago.

Rock music is proper music where everyone in the band is there for a reason (they actually play there own instuments, and play live too).None of this miming pop ****.If you listen to most rock bands after a while you will notice that it is actually better then any shitty rap, techno or what ever you call it now a days stuff. And a lot of the time the lyrics do mean something which a lot of people can relate to.

No not all of it, you may be thinking of thrash metal which is a repetitive quick banging on a drum and a vocalist who either sings so quickly you can't hear the words or has a realy deep voice that sounds like he's in agony. the term "Rock Music" refers to bands like "Iron Maiden", Alice Cooper & Red Hot Chili Peppers" if you take the time to listen to the lyrics of an Iron Maiden Song you will find some of them are quite historically educational (like a mini history lesson) try listening to the lyrics of "Montsegur", "Paschendale" or "Alexander the Great"

Well, for your question to have any validity, you have to define "Rock" music...that can mean anything from Elvis Presley, right up to Cradle of Filth.....

Saying that all rock music is just noise is a pretty senseless, broad generalisation, don't you think?

No. I love good rock music. In addition, since it has been around for so long, I tend to think I'm not alone. Now Rap, there's some serious NOISE!!! Sorry!!

depends on what type of rock music.....metal, emo, screamo, and punk are just noise. Classic rock, however, is not. The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, etc. were all influential artists.
