In your case, probably hibernate, as it will not use any power.

Hibernate causes your computer to completely shutdown, but saves the "state" to the hard drive. When you turn your computer back on, the saved "state" is restored, and you'll see all your windows and open applications just as they were when you hibernated. Hibernate is usually faster than shutting down/starting up too.

Sleep causes your computer to go into a low-power consumption mode. That is, a little bit of power will still be used. But the upside is, when you move the mouse or tap a key, your computer will "instantly" turn back on.

Since you're leaving the house, it's probably best to not use any power. Therefore hibernate will do the trick.

Neither, turn it off. Hibernate is particularly buggy.

I use Sleep only when on battery power, then seldom.
