show as being offline/not connected in my task bar but it's actually hooked up and working....?

Because the PC sees the router, but it's not enabled on the router. Read the router Manual.

Ah, the wonderful world of wireless...as long as everything is working fine, just keep your fingers crossed it all stays working...that's what network administrators do.
