I am sorry to say to you that a frikandel does not actually contain any meat. But that doesn't make them less tasty, of course.

I, like Chris, have never seen the sausage type of Frikandel here in the U.K., (although I have no doubt they will be available somewhere, eg. a delicatessen), but the burger type is available in places like Aldi.
I am surprised that someone from Holland has suggested that they contain nothing but 'offal'. This is nothing more than an 'old wives tale' that occasionally resurrects. It came about mainly because of the somewhat vague recipe of the ingredients. In fact they contain pork, beef and chicken.
As a matter of interest Frikandel is the 2nd most popular snack in Holland after (meat) Croquettes

P.S. I could just fancy one now

You can't, there are frikandelen burgers but they are not the same, I can assure you that you will not be able to buy them anywhere unless they are imported by snack bars so as in Spain etc.. I lived in Holland 25 years and I've heard this question many times I'm now in Greece and still miss them, so unless you buy them in Holland you can stop looking.

The frikandellen you are referring to which you can by at Lidl and Aldi are German and are NOTHING like Dutch frikandellen. And about slaughter meat, that s what we call a broodje aap , simply not true. You must be a special kind of nut thinking it isn t made of meat.

Is that the kind of spicy burger meat thing? They sell them in Netto for sure, my son likes them. I think they're called Frikandellen or something.

If I may be honest, a frikandel contains what you may call slaughter waste... So not the meaty parts of an animal, but the scary. Use your imagination. It is not only made of beef and pork, but also of horse meat.
