I have a wireless (integrated) laptop. However I don't have a wireless router, but I do have my Broadband modem from my provider has a slot in the top for PCI Lan cards. I'm told that a lan card can broadcast a wireless signal to my laptop.

But i don't know what to do. Can anyone HELP??

I'd appreciate it. Thanks

A PCI slot is on a desktop mother board. They are used to plug in circuit boards to the Mother Board like Video Adaptors, Modems, Sound Cards and wireless boards.
The slot you are referring to in your Router is properly a PCMCIA slot, similar to what laptops have. Wireless PCMCIA cards are avail.
I have never seen a router with a slot in it, not to say they don't exist. Will Google and find out. I use a D-Link Wireless router and it communicates very well with my laptop using a PCMCIA Wireless card.

that's not substantial witch merchandise you get. in case you get a instantaneous G usb adapter u have the call of the place you prefer to place it through fact u can used any USB cable. yet while its a instantaneous N the adapter it does not use a USB cable. i exploit the PCI and it particularly works super (it even works on homestead windows Vista, the instantaneous G of course) the concern is you're able to could desire to be careful while putting the PCI card through fact u do not prefer to decrease to rubble the "inner organs" of your laptop even with the undeniable fact that that's undemanding to place in. one subject in case you're utilising homestead windows 2000 or decrease be optimistic to place in the drivers first. in case you're utilising homestead windows XP SP1 (Srvice p.c..) or greater set up the device first (USB or PCI) then use the CD. i wish this could answer your queston.

examine what compatible wifi card your Broadband modem slot support. examine your laptop wifi card too if the one your gettin is compatible. then buy that card and install it to your modem. turn on your laptop's wifi switch and scan available signal around the area.

dont forget to configure your wireless network and put password on it. people can just connect to your wireless network for free. unless your so generous
