Mostly, from people I didn't expect...
Some odd people around me were listening to Leftfield, and I was hooked.
School had an influence too, but I'm sure radio played the biggest influence, as did learning the guitar and drums (you tend to notice the music more as a player, rather that have it as 'something in the background) Hence why I listen to Tool.
Travel has oddly had little effect on my musical taste, but I have found myself liking a couple of unusual tunes (mostly due to the memories they reflect - most probably).
So all in all, it goes like this...Rock and roll (some 60's / 70's), electro (breakdance), heavy metal (Suicidal Tendencies, System Of A Down, Tool, etc), house music (not hard-core, but progressive, trance, etc), and some pop music (the most diverse part) sprinkled around in places.
Interesting question.

My mum. She always used to play 60s music or Queen. Until I was about 8 I didn't know any other music existed!!
Still love all that stuff now tho, but also love a lot of modern bands.

No-my mom and father listened to us of a track and that i nonetheless don't love it to on the present time. i imagine the position you enhance up has extra impact, I grew up in Cleveland the position rock develop into the track to pay interest too, had a lot of significant radio stations, great live performance activities. I nonetheless love rock the perfect. My brother on the different hand only likes us of a, so i imagine some are inspired and others are literally not.

my dad influenced my early tastes in music... i grew up listening to 80's music like eurythmics, queen, stranglers, ultravox, and yazoo. i still love 80's music because of that.... and as i grew older, my tastes changed, firstly from pop/rock to heavy metal (big fan of iron maiden for a while) and then when i was 15, i discovered goth music, but again it was 80's music that i got into... like the cure, sisters of mercy and the mission. i don't think anyone influenced me into becoming a goth.... for me it was just a natural progression... still love goth / rock music now. favourite bands are placebo, HIM, MCR, inkubus sukkubus, along side classic rock bands like pink floyd and led zeplin.

As a child, I was influenced by the times and my peers.
As an adult, I expanded my horizons.
I enjoy rock, blues, reggae, zydeco, jazz, world music, bluegrass, standards and some "modern pop".

I grew up listening to Reggae, it's what my Mum listens to. But I turned out to be a rock fan. So I guess nobody influenced me, I just thought it was cool.
