dont concentrate on your breathing. try thinking something ele or concentrate on something else. like imagine a birthday party or a crush in the office, that will take off your mind on your controls..

I agree with you on the above.Everytime you focus on
breath it stops and you feel like controlling it but meditation
says no control - so what you have to do is be a just
passive observer. If you find this a bit difficult then shift
your breath observation to counting of your breath which is
easier and you don't have to strain your concentration to
feel the sensation. How you do it is by counting you
outgoing breath as one and then again next outgoing breath
as two and try to reach a target of ten but this though being
easy will be difficult because your mind has run away to som
other thoughts and when you realise this start again from
one. There will be perpetual tug of war in your mind and
ultimately you will win and reach a target of ten. Now don't
stop here but go for another count of ten and if you reach
this successfully you will observe peace. This is not forcing
your mind to be quiet, it is finding the quiet that is already
there. I am sure this will go a long way in finding your
success towards meditation. Good luck.

Don't breathe through your chest, breathe through your stomach (diaphragm). Let your belly rise and fall and you will notice the air escaping and entering your lungs. Breathe through your nose.
