People have been saying that they are the future of the NBA; will they ever surpass the Jordan-Magic-Bird generation? Keep in mind that the James-Anthony-Wade generation also include Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor, Chris Paul and soon Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. I think that these ‘kids’ wouldn’t be in the NBA in the 1st place if not for Jordan and Co., they just wouldn’t be as good. The reason they are really good now was because they had Jordan and Co. to idolize and look up to. They grew up imitating Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and the rest.

I don't think this new group will surpass what you term "the Jordan-Magic-Bird generation" (even though there were a number of other tremendous players during that same time, like Olajuwon, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Robinson, Barkley, Isiah, Pippen, etc...).
That original Dream Team was truly a squad for the ages.

Carmelo Anthony really embarrassed himself this season, and Dwayne Wade slipped a little this season (even before his injury).
LeBron is about the same player he was a year ago, and I don't think he will be able to carry his team to the NBA Finals this year either. The rest of the guys you mentioned (outside of Amare) are good, but not great players.

Get one thing straight. Bird and Magic paved the way. Jordan took it from there to where it is now. These thugs today couldn't hold a candle to those three in terms of class. Maybe LeBron, he seems like a class guy, but I don't like the attitude I'm seeing from alot of these new players. It's like they have no respect for how good they have it. Look at Artest! Shameful.

No way! These young guys are all flair but no substance. However, these guys are still young and they've got all the time in the world to improve on their craft, play the right way and lead their respective teams to the championship. Only then do we start talking about them among the greats like Bird, Magic and Michael. Wade has won one already and among the present crop, he's the one who appears destined for greatness. However, he's got to stay healthy and lessen his turnovers.

when any of those players combine for 14 NBA championships then they can be mentioned in the same breath as Magic,MJ and Bird, all those guys on your list(10) combined will never have that many rings, theres a difference in MJ,MAGIC, and BIRD, they had a desire, work effort, leadership, attitude, and charisma that nobody from the new school has or ever will.

lebron, carmelo and wade may just surpass jordan, magic and bird. however, they also have their own style of play, especially wade. he's ready to fall anytime, as long as he's not vulnerable to injuries. besides, i think jordan-magic-bird grew up idolizing the likes of chamberlain-russel. soon, the next generation of nba superstars will have lebron-carmelo-wade to look up to.

What Jordan and Co. did could never be outdone..Perhaps they could imitate and surpass in terms of statistics but we are unsure if they change the game like Jordan and Co. did

No, because the older superstars played as a team. The individual stats might be better now, but they will never be as good at making their teammates better.
