These things happen, be thankful we live in a country where gun control is so tight or we'd be seeing this terrible thing more and more often.

This may be a lil more than what anyone out there cares to read but let me share MY story with you...I am the oldest of 5 children, and the only female. When I was about 5 yrs. old, my two oldest brothers and I were playing cowboys and indians indoors while visiting my grandparents. When pilfering thru a dresser drawer I found a small hand gun...not realizing that it was real...we continued our game...pow...pow..got you..several times...cylinder empty..pow ...oh my god...real blood...and the amazing thing is that both my father and grandfather were in the room with us. We rushed Tim to the E>R>, and ONE INCH is all that spared his life...I almost got his lung...From that day forth I have a fear of guns...as the boys grew older and had bbguns..i wouldn*t touch one. I am now 45 years old..and wouldn*t allow my son to have guns growing up. I KNOW how the brother must feel, and this isn*t something that goes away. The pain lessens over the years...the parents...it has to be horrible. They have to be asking themselves IF they are in someway at fault, If there was anything that they could have done to prevent this, and LOVE their son...help him thru this. We need to be praying for this family.

It wasn't the gun's fault and it certainly wasn't the child's. If the gun and ammo had been safely stored the child wouldn't have had it. You must live in a very secure world to not think of protection. Have someone really scare you good, stalk you or worse and most will change their mind about being able to defend themselves. To lose a child under any circumstance is terrible especially when it was preventable.

Now come on, you know you are not supposed to mention the colour, you are supposed to feel abject sympathy, tut in the right places, give support, dont say anything, donate cash or pat them on the back, but dont mention the colour.
Tut Tut how sad

my heart would be torn into 2 pieces, but i certainly would hope that my kids wouldn't ever get to be near a gun of any kind! my heart goes out to their family, but an accident is an accident. he has killed his sister.... that has to be the life long punishment.
who's gun was it? to me that person is also responsible!

You can't.
As long as stubborn governments are not concerned about gun law allowing the posession of deadly weapons, it will happen again.
Stand up and be counted, vote against weapons !

according to the papers, the mum was at a funeral, had left those 2 kids and 2 younger ones at home, and the gun (illegal in U.K.) was in the shed. What the Hell was she thinking of?

You don't. I know of a little boy who shot his twin and he was banished from his parent's home. Poor little kid.
People should not have guns - we don't need killing machines.
