You need about 10 seconds for the oil to start pumping through the engine. If you have a carb, you may need to let it warm up and maybe connect a pre-heater. If a newer car with electronic ignition you really have no need to let it warm up unless you are having problems with it running while cold.

Technically, modern cars (fuel injected) do NOT need to be warmed up before running the car. In fact, it is not healthy for any modern car to sit in idle for more than 3 minutes--this can cause the engine's internal parts to wear out faster than normal driving.

It's the best doing because all engine need heating up before running fastly. It's more better for engine before running the car

Most modern engines will do quite well if you warm them as you drive. The exception might be extremely cold days. You want in any case to make sure you have enough oil, and clean enough oil to properly lubricate your engine.
In the old days many engines needed to warm up to get the oil moving properly. That is rarely the case these days.

No you dont need to warm it up before you drive for fuel injected cars. They are designed to be warmed up by driving this way your engine, transmission, and axles all warm up together.

Actually you need to warm up your car for about 5 ~ 10 mins before move off.
Just like human being we need to warm up before exercise is the same theory.

actually u always have to warm up ur car so that the oil and fluids circulatein the cilynders and flow so ur not running it dry and cold just give it five minutes in the morning. especially if its 8 cylinders.

If it is a carbeurated car then it is a good idea, however with todays modern fuel injection systems you dont have to. Although it is a good idea to do so in the winter so when you get in it's nice and toasty!!!
