The ancient Greeks had 3 words to distiguish the different types of love...
!. Phileo ......affectionate , to welcome or befriend ....
2. Agape....brotherly love ...
3. Eros ....love to a deeper level as in the love between a
husband & wife
They actually put a name to it but nothing's changed when you think about it ...

love is the way that you feel about certain things like places, objects, people, food, culture ...and many more , you can "express" love in different "types" in the form of art, emotion, appreciation and so on . In the end love does not have types but you can show "love" in many or different types.

What an interesting question!!
I think there are many different levels of love.
The love you have for a partner differs from the love you have for your parents and siblings.
Which in turn differs from the love you feel towards friends.
Then there's the love of chocolate which, whilst very strong in my case i wouldn't run to save it from a car accident like I would my husband or family member!
Basically I think of love as a sliding scale with almost infinite levels.
(Hey, i almost forgot about the love of film/TV stars, Brad Pitt, when are you going to marry me!!??)

The three kinds of love, in the Greek language are the following:
1. Agape love. It is the highest form of love. It is the sacrificial kind of love, spiritual by its very nature, where one puts the best interests of another first and foremost before their own interests.
2. Phileo love - the kind of love one has for another family member. The way you would love your parents, brother, sister. It is also charity, or basic human love for another human being.
3. Eros = Erotic love. Sex, or, physical love.
The above listed, are the three forms of love that I am aware of. I hope that my explanations have been helpful to you.

Hello,
(ANS) There is a GREAT deal of confusion about love and how it is expressed. There are many expressions of love, or love takes many forms.
Such as the following:-
**Self Love in the positive sense (NOT self obsession)
**Parental Love (not to be confused with conditional love) inc fatherly love
**Maternal (mother) love usually unconditional
**Brotherly or sisterly love
**Love of grand parents
**Love of your friends (close friends)
**Love of your nahbour or fellow human beings
**Universal love (love towards everything in the widest sense)
**Love of your dog or pet, etc.
Love of material objects (not sure if that qualifies as love really).
