They aren't. I have looked at macs and I really can't see what all of the hype is about. I have an HP with an AMD cpu and an NVidea vid card and it blows away any mac. Plus, with the windows media center edition it does everything I need. The macs cost more and don't perform as good. So I don't see the point in spending more to have less. As far as all of the hype about virus and spyware problems, mac is now getting those as well. I don't have a problem with virus, spyware, hackers, or crashes that mac users claim pc computers supposedly have. Maybe 7 years ago this might have been true, but not anymore. As it stands now, I wouldn't have a mac. It is a waste of hard earned money.

The Intel processor Macs address the software issue that some people have mentioned because they can run both Mac OSX and Windows (if that's something that interests you). People are trying to hack the Mac operating system to work on PCs, but I don't know how successful they've been.

In my opinion, one of the best things about Macs is the way all the Apple hardware and software integrates.

If you think you might be interested in getting a Mac, I'd suggest you check them out at the Apple store, if you have one near you. They have all the computers set up and you can play around on them for as long as you like. The salespeople won't try to pressure you to buy anything and they'll answer any questions you have.

Who said they were? Macs are good for digital recording. Other than that they arent that special. I had a mac since they were black and white suped up type writers with a 6in screen. I finially got my own laptop PC and its great and I can use any software that comes out right away instead of waiting forever for it to get converted.

One reason might be that Apple Corporation has a monopoly on the Macintosh market, whereas PCs are made by hundreds of manufacturers, such as Dell, with many different operating systems. Some manufacturers and operating systems are better than others.

One might also say that it is only perception that a Macintosh is better than a PC. Apple and Dell personal computers run much of the same software including Microsoft Word and iTunes. A personal computer is only as good as the software it runs, including the operating system.

It's simply a matter of preference.

Macs are based on Linux, and are thus a little more stable and secure. Macs do run on pc's like the Intel Core 2 Duo.

Macs are extremely well designed and implemented. Very graphically pleasing. They have all the software Windows users enjoy except a few games. And they can also run both Mac and Windows programs!

Sit down at a Mac, and give it a testdrive. It will be like driving a BMW instead of a Ford. They both will get you there, just one will feel solid and be more fun.

it's a left brain right brain thing, sort of like left handed and right handed?
Mac is better, but it's not.
Macs arn't technical, they just work.
Windows pcs are technical, and they work.
say you have two macs on a network together, one has a printer, and one has a scanner.
you don't have to do anything, and both of those macs have local access to both the printer and the scanner.
you can connect the two with windows as well, but it's list a wee(!!!!) bit more involved.
Apple has award winning software like Aperture, and iLife.

another attractive thing about Macs is OSX. when you buy a Mac it comes with OSX. whatever point release they are on is what you get.
none of this windows home vista sooper dooper edition, and sooper dooper pooper scooper edition and the paperbag edition, and the........

so, macs are only better if you just want your computer to work.

Macs, both hardware and software that comes with it, are made to work together.

PCs open the door to other software vendors who do not/will not write code to work better with the os. This, in part, is due to what Microsoft has caused.

Macs suck. If you like computer games you have to wait months for them to come out on Mac. Its hard to find software of any kind and all of the software and accessories are more expensive. I don't think they are better.
