Are extreme Muslims really fascists?

Fascism is defined as:
a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Some might argue that the U.S. is heading this direction.

It is one of the many examples of the trashing of language to make rational public discussion of policy impossible. Islamism is the correct term, that is the belief that Islamic law (sharia) must be the basis for all statutory law of society; that Muslims must return to the original teachings and the early models of Islam; and that western military, economic, political, social, or cultural influence on the Muslim world is against Islam. This is quit different from the policies of Hitler's Germany, which is the connection they are trying to make with language because they can not make it with reason.
Other assaults on language is the equating Socialism with Communism, using homicide bombers instead of suicide bombers, and labeling domestic opponents as anti-American.

Islamism is a term used to denote a set of political ideologies holding that Islam is not solely a religion, but also a political system

Islamofascism is a controversial neologism suggesting an association of the ideological or operational characteristics of certain modern Islamist movements with European fascist movements of the early 20th century, neofascist movements, or totalitarianism.

Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests inferior to the needs of the state, and seeks to forge a type of national unity, usually based on ethnic, religious, cultural, or racial attributes.

Just were do you see the US in any of this?

Totalitarianism - many precepts of Isam are totalirian and facist. Of course extreme groups of many religions profess this philosophy - not just Islamists or Muslims. If you read the Q'ouran it is stated clearly that this was one of the tenets whispered in Mohhamed's ear by the angel. Mohhamed never wrote a manuscript of the revelations made to him and this information was passed down orally for many centuries. Thus, there is a possibility that these revelations were "revised" to include such a precept. I do not believe the US is facist but there are many popular movents that exist in America today that are very facist.

Yes they have much in common with fascists. They both want to exterminate Jew. They both want to impose absolute political power in the name of a lie. They both have no regard for human life. Your statement about the US heading that way is beyond asinine.
