3X+2Y+ Z=8 X - Y+3Z=5 2X+ Y+2Z=9 fixing the 2d equation for X, we get x=y-3z+5 Now plug this into the 1st equation and get 3(y-3z+5)+2y+z=8 3y-9z+2y+z+15=8 5y-8z=-7 and into the third equation giving 2(y-3z+5)+y+2z=9 2y-6z+10+y+2z=9 3y-4z=-a million so we've 5y-8z=-7 3y-4z=-a million multiply the 2d equation by using -2 and upload it to the 1st 5y-8z=-7 -6y+8z=2 and we get -y=-5, so y=5 then x=y-3z+5, we placed the value of y in and get x=5+5-3z x=-3z+10 so if we use this fee of x and y=5 in equation a million we get 3(-3z+10)+2(5)+z=8 -9z+30+10+z=8 -8z=-32 z=4 we now have that y=5 and z=4, so 3x+2(5)+4=8 3x+10+4=8 3x+14=8 3x=-6 x=-2 so we've x = -2 y = 5 z = 4 I shown that i did not make any computational errors with the simultaneous equation solver on my TI-89, so there you pass!

3x+2y=-12 so 6x + 4y = -24
2x+y=-7 so 6x + 3y = -21

Eqn1 - eqn2
y = -3
Substitute into eqn1
3x-6 = -12
x = -6/3 = -2

Solution (-2, -3) (b)

3x + 2y = - 12
-4x - 2y = 14----ADD
-x = 2
x = - 2
- 4 + y = - 7
y = - 3
Answer is x = - 2 , y = - 3-----(Option b))

2007-05-02 19:25:51 · answer #4 · answered by Como 7 · 0 0

-2*(3x + 2y = -12)
+3*(2x+y=-7)
-------------------------
-4y+3y = 3
-y = 3
y = -3

so b. (-2,-3). You can even plug in to figure it out.
Answer is b. (-2,-3)
