On a team of 10 people, and assuming you are good at your task, whatever that is.
What is the minimum probability of returning alive that will get you to accept? Will you accept if there is a 50% chance you may not see Earth again? What about 10%?

It's funny, at first I was thinking it would be a low percentage. However, as I thought about it I realized that if I never came back to Earth and I was with a team of 10 people, I would have to spend the rest of my life with those 10 people. Of course, that's not even allowing for the fact that we probably wouldn't live that long withough being able to return as it is. The chance to see a whole new world would be awesome. However, I think the price to pay would be too steep. So unless there was about a 90 per cent chance I would be able to get back, I don't think I would do it. Even if we managed to survive on Mars... only being able to interact with ten people for the rest of my life would drive me nuts.

I'm not much of a gambler (don't even buy lottery tickets) so I'd have to have at least an 80% chance to return. UNLESS I can take my family with me and we colonize the place.

Not going to happen in my lifetime. I predict that the first manned mission to Mars will be an embarrassing, heart-breaking, and costly failure.

So, I think I'll pass, thankyouverymuch.

I think I would be too scared to go if there was a 100% chance of getting back. All that emptiness scares the **** out of me.

I know that it seems like everyones dream to go into space, and I can admit that it would be amazing. I however have no interest in going into outerspace...if I HAD to then i would like a 100% insurance that I would get my feet back on Eart in one piece :)

I'll do it.
But only if they don't send us to that terrible Planet of the Apes.
Wait a minute...
Statue of Liberty...?
That was OUR planet!
You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!
