sounds like one of those things that very hard to prove...
since we have the debt...it's hard to exactly pin down where the money is going... and what's going where...
the entire budget is around 2.4 tril (estimate for 07)
defense gets about 400 bil in the budget... and I think they get about an extra 100 bil for Iraq and such every year... so around 500 bil... annually
now that's about 20 or so percent of the budget, for all defense, which much is clearly going to Iraq...
so, TOPS... you could MAYBE say 20 percent... as I figure it...
I could be wrong...
but then again, 20 percent is a lot...

According to the Budget of the United States Government, Fiscal Year 2008, 20% of your federal tax withholdings will be used towards past military spending (including debt and VA) and 31% for current military spending, including the $161 billion earmarked for Afghanistan and Iraq wars, which represents 7% of the total figure. In other words, 51% of the federal taxes you paid go to military spending. Please note that this applies only to 'regular' federal taxes, not trust funds like social security.
FYI, the the figure for FY2006 was 38%.

The Karl Rove/Dick Cheney administration is one that has hidden as much of the operational facts about our government as possible.
That is especially true when it comes to knowing the actual cost of this stupid war in Iraq.
All of the civilian employees in Iraq work for the State Department, so you'll have to be a detective to find out what those costs are.
The rest of the military costs associated with Iraq are purposely broken down and hidden in a variety of places, but we're closing in on somewhere around HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS.
We have borrowed the cost of this war from Japan and China.
Meanwhile, China is in the middle of Africa negotiating with the countries there to help extract and buy oil from the world's last and purest oil deposits.
China loves the fact that we are distracted, bogged down, and monetarily over-extended by this war!!!!
It will take years for us to fully appreciate the tremendous damage the George W. Bush administration has done to our national interests !!!!
Sadly, our great republic will have been deeply wounded by the Bush/Cheney administration in a whole variety of ways.

For the 2008 fiscal year, total military spending will be 51% of the federal budget. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (I could only find a combined number) total 7% of the federal budget.

The technical answer to your question is none. Since most of the funding for Iraq has been extra-budget (i.e., special funding bills that are not figured into the annual budget of the United States), they are paying nothing.
For right now...

I don't know that one, but here is a statistic that ought to make your blood boil, and its true. 40 % of your tax money buys NOTHING. Not even the war. Not roads, not medical care, not schools, not even arms for the military. It pays interest on the national debt. And 80 % of that has been run up under Mr. Bush with his war and his tax cuts for billionaires. Did you vote for that?

As of yet, very little as the US government borrowed most of the money from China. It's your grandchildren who will pay for this war, as we pay for the wars our grandfathers fought.
