We don't know if space is infinite. Even if there is a boundary to the matter in the expanding universe, is that the edge of the universe?

What is beyond the universe?

The main options:

1. Nothing. Just define 'universe' so it includes everything.

2. Space containing no matter and perhaps even no energy.

3. There is no such thing. Space exists only as relationships between matter, so if there is no matter, there is no space. I'm not joking. Some scientists seriously consider this.

4. There is no such thing. Space is expanding along with the material universe.

5. There is no such thing. The universe is a closed topology. I don't think there is any particular evidence to support this.

6. Conjecture whatever you like. We'll never know. It's beyond our event horizon. Imagine parallel universes if that tickles your fancy.

Yes, there is an edge in that expanding universe, and that edge has been the very center of discussion in the Einstenian theory of relativity....outside the exploding mass, there is the absolute nothing (outside the edge), a concept so abstract, that we can hardly imagine, because we tend to think in terms of mass and matter or in tridimensional manner.
There is no conflict, because space, as we know, has an edge, and it ends up there, in the very edge....so there is not such a thing as "infinite" space....and the big bang just confirms that fact....

It depends on the geometry of the universe. It is perfectly possible to have an infinite geometry with an edge, and it is perfectly possible to have one without an edge.

For instance, imagine the geometry of the universe obeyed this rule: that as you went out from a point each step you took was half the length of the one before as measured from its starting point. You can then take an infinite number of steps which you think are all the same length, but never reach the edge - even though there is an edge.

I think the "big bang" theorizes how our galaxy was created - I may be wrong.

You pose a very heavy question. The 2 statements are contradictory, as anything that has an "edge" wouldn't really be infinite.

It would be nice if there were a way to travel through the vastness of space to try to bring more concrete answers to questions like yours!

Infinite with an edge. That could not be. However, if you changed the word infinite to indefinite then you could have an still exanding indefinate outer space with an edge.
