It depends on the ingredients of the products. You don't want to "overload" on certain things. For example, it may be too much to use a face wash w/ AHA, then an agressive face scrub, followed by another AHA toner w/ alcohol.

If you are using simple products you should be okay.

As for product recommendations, it depends on your skin type. I go to www.makeupalley.com - it has consumer to consumer reviews for members. Membership is free & I've been a member for about 3 years.

I mix products all the time. If you find a combo that works for your skin, then go for it. Sometimes a brand will have products with varying quality, like a really good facial cleanser, but a below average moisturizer. Or sometimes you can find a product that's identical to another brands, but cheaper.

For the most part, I think the idea that you should only use the same brands product on your face is just a marketing ploy.

You bet it is, though the counter people will try to sell you on the complete line from their particular company!

If you choose wisely, and according to your skin type/specific needs, all the companies you mentioned offer suitable products.

My personal faves are Shiseido for eye makeup, Lancome for some lipsticks (MAC and Laura Mercier for the rest), Lancome for their Definicils mascara (though my cheap-o Maybelline works great too!) , Prescriptives for foundation & powder (with Bobbi Brown a close 2nd, and more affordable) and Kiehls for cleansing products.

Dior for me is too expensive and they're like the same as the other brands. it's ok to use it as long as it's the same foundation color ect. it would be really weird if they're different color. i luv estee lauder and lancome and i'm really addicted to their stuff, just not their lipglosses for lipglosses i use neutrogena it has SPF and really moisturize ur lips and smells really good also

Yeah its ok to mix brands the most impt thing is that you bought something suitable for your skin type. There's no best one, it depends on which one you like.

yes, as long as all the products together are not affecting your skin negatively.
