Don't argue.
If you were the boss then you could be right.
When his way fails, then you can say I tried it your way, can I try mine now?

Learn to understand and apply the three "universal, and unmutable" laws of job employment.

First, you can put up with the situation as is. It seems in your case, this is causing you no end of frustration.

Second, you can 'fight city hall'. This only works if the folks in charge are willing to 'listen and learn'.

Third, is the law of "opening door #3 (from 'Let's make a Deal')". So what is behind door #3? It is the exit door from the company that leads to a new job.

Think about it. For any job, those are your only three options. You only have three doors. The question you have to ask (and only you can answer) is this: do you suffer in silence, try and change things, or choose door # 3?

It certainly sounds like you need to plan an exit strategy.

You are actually in a learning experience. You need to learn to spin things in your direction.

Your boss lacks self-confidence as well as good communication skills. Here's your chance to learn for yourself the proper techniques/methods. Read more on good leadership styles. Keep track of your own successes.

When you go in for your annual performance review, show the positive and productive contribution you have given. Even consider applying for a promotion or lateral move to gain more experience. If your boss can do the job this badly, any chance you could do it too??

This could be the least annoying thing you may have to put up with. You will always have someone like this no matter where you go. No matter what job you take you will most likely never like every person. Mind over matter will see you trough.

Before you quit, I suggest you try to figure out how to work with this person. If you do learn to deal with this person, you'll have no difficulty dealing with less severe personalities.

Take it on as a learning experience. Don't quit too soon.
