Politicians are "power hungry" because politics is all about power and control issues. That foul institution naturally attracts lower lifeforms interested in the pursuit and application of power. Term limits makes absolutely good sense and we could have them overnight if we had the gumption to demand them. The problem lies not with the brutal ecstasies of domination and those who seek power over others, but rather with the contemptible desires of submission and those who do not defend their freedom by voting, staying informed and getting involved. Those who are not power-hungry must defend themselves from those predators who are. There is nothing more foul than a politician except a citizen who submits in cowardice, laziness, apathy and ignorance. It's no ones fault but the voters that we don't have term limits.

Thats easy.
Politicians are the ones who create the laws and they have no interest in limiting their terms.
I have to say this though. Term limits might help a little bit but that won't make politics honest. We need to address a wide variety of things to have a prayer of honest governance.

Because the career politicians wont allow for that.
But then its up to the ameican people to take responsiblity and remove those people that are not serving them properly -- or at least not reelect them.
So you could say if the same politicians are allowed to continue even after exposed wrongdoings, then its the people who failed to take action

They are told what to do. Not by the people but still they are instructed, by the party or the powers that be. It is not from their salary. Maybe it is about the perks that come after they leave office. Maybe if we ask who in their right mind would want to be president? We sort of accidentally turn the lights on for ourselves. No one in their right mind would want to be president. That explains why we have the presidents we have.

They are hungry/greedy for POWER and your money.
They are NOT servants of the people as George Washington was. If they were, they couldn't afford to spend the TIME required to hold office. They would have to quit to make a living.
Cut their pay to near nothing and make it illegal to profit in ANY way from holding office. They'll leave!
