Why does the gov't reward the wrong people?

Question

Why does the gov't reward people for being irresponsible? Single parents get tax breaks, money to help them buy a home, etc. Why should they get these benefits? I'm not talking about people who were married, had children and the marriage didn't work out. I'm talking about the people who have 5 kids from 5 different dads and never had a job that paid more than minimum wage. Why aren't the people who made responsible choices and did not have children they could not afford get rewarded?

MEKA - You say their are children involved and the gov't cares? Why should the gov't care about these children when the person who brought them into the world obviously didn't.

CCN - The bleeding hearts don't treat everyone equal. The responsible people get no help or tax breaks, only the incentives to the irresponsible.

as was said in the past, the country will fall,.....once the people find out, they can vote themselves benefits, by voting the right man, or woman into office,.....it is a shame this can happen,.....i fear for my country, the u.s.a.

You have some very valid questions. I've often wondered the same. Now go ahead and throw in all those illegal aliens. They get free health care, free food, subsidized housing or sometimes free housing, and pay no taxes. How about that one? We don't get any of those things! My health insurance costs me $300 a month for just ME! I have always thought that if someone has a baby on welfare, they get to have one for free. Next time they get pregnant, that one goes up for adoption and their tubes are tied. That would take care of the problem. As for the people that aren't responsible, they don't have to be because taxpayers like you and me are paying for them and their kids. I'm sick of it, too.

If we did not make it so easy to get welfare and other social benefits at the beginning, we would not be where we are now. Why does a welfare card have to be in Spanish? I am convinced that every baby born to an illegal Mexican comes out with a welfare application in their hand. I agree with you when you say why should we care for children that their own parents don't care about. If they cared they wouldn't have had them in the first place since they obviously can't afford to take care of them. Why should I?

Because the "government" literally instigates
bad behavior.....it is like if you are dumb and ignorant enough...we will help you cause you are dumb and can't help yourself....
if you are smart and choose the "right" way, are independent, responsible, and use "common sense" you don't need "government" help....cause you can take care of yourself.....
just like last year when I was looking for work...certain jobs you could not get unless you were a drug addict or had been in jail previously....the GOVERNMENT" literally provkes "BAD BEHAVIOR & IRRESPONSIBILITY" ....don't ask me why..it doesn't really help people get better...it just makes them more and more dependent and irresponsible...

I'm not sure what you mean about single parents, as they're not the only ones who get welfare when they don't need it. The problem is that the government has a bureaucracy to determine who needs what and that's easy to manipulate. It also doesn't help that society teaches people that they are entitled to everything they want when they want it.

It's rough seeing people abuse the system, but you can write your representatives and try to change it.

The government gives tax breaks to those that deserve them. Personally, I think a working parent who is dedicating their life to raising small human beings is more deserving of a tax break than some selfish DINK or Yuppie who is dedicated to purchasing the next Ipod.
